I am actually running into some group problems myself. I chose to split the
group grade in half. Half of the grade is a group grade that I assign based on
my observations and the quality of the end of semester group project and
presentation, and the other half of the grade comes from their group mates.
Each person has an opportunity to give a grade to each of their group mates for
participation. I have 7 groups in my class and have run into a problem with one
of them. In this group there is one very outspoken member (the others feel they
were being ignored), and have since frozen her out of group discussion. She now
IS being ignored, and I fear that the others will give her a bad grade
regardless of her attempts to participate. This is my first attempt with a
group project and I am not confident I am handling it well.
