-----Original Message----- I am searching for ideas about how to open the first day of Race, Ethnicity and Social Class with a bang. Something that will grab the students (junior and senior soc majors) attention and get them excited. Also, any activity ideas
that foster discussion, partcularly if the class is ethnically diverse (which I dont actually know will be the case)would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly, any RADICAL ideas to be used throughout would also be helpful. Thanks in advance for the assistance. * * * * * * * * * Thiagi has a number of wonderful simulations on multiculturalism: Barnga
is excellent and Same Difference can be very
effective. Neither one takes all
that long. You might want to check Simulations by Thiagi. I will send you—by separate
mailing—a variation on Same Difference
that you might want to further adapt.
It can be a kind of mixer for students to get to know each other as well
as having a point to it. Keith |
