I have been claiming that sociology is a science with a core.  That core is that social behavior emanates form the immediate environment, such as the situation.  I have tested this in practice.  That is the locus of the behavior is the situation and not the actor.  there for if you want to change the behavior you must change the situation.  It happens that data from fMRI and PET  have  found that the shape of our thinking  emanates from the immediate environment.

It turns out that what has been attributed to being mind is the brain at work.  The concept of mind particularly as used in mental health and mental illness has been a source of continued violence and suffering.   So I have considerable concern over the continued adoption and use of
a term that obscures understanding.  Those of you how have worked in the field of mental health will recall the term escape to health.  The insane pretended to be sane to fool us.  Also, when groups of the insane were taken to outward bound they behaved sanely.  In an internship I found that hospital staff made an effort to keep people insane by transferring them to a different ward when they showed progress.

Much of the problem comes from the failure to test diagnostic and other instruments on a "normal"  population.
