I did purchase a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. You do need to look out for some potential problems regarding this particular model computer. First, most Dell computers arrive with useless software that expires within a few months if useful at all. The net result is that machine performance sometimes slows down. I would recommend backing up the programs that you really need and then rebooting the machine to wipe out extraneous stuff while keeping the more useful programs. S
Second, the new laptops do not have parallel ports. This makes printing impossible without the necessary adapters or conversion cards. I am still trying to successfully connect with a laserjet printer bearing a parallel port. Can someone let me know how they resolved a similar problem? Third, the Dell technical support could be alot better. My last attempt at resolving the printer compatibility problem with Dell Tech support consisted of a IM conversation with someone named Ravi (probably working in India). The good news is that the Dell computers do work reasonably well once you bypass some of these issues.
