Another one that some may find a little simplistic, or extremely common, but I have my hs kids try to simulate an older person by wearing sunglasses, ear plugs, wrapping tape around their knuckes or ace bandages around their knees or elbows, or wearing thin winter gloves.  I usually give a few extra credit points to anyone who also dresses the part.  They are supposed to participate for an entire day, with the exception of driving or anything else where safety is an issue.
They then have a few questions they have to answer about the experience.
They usually report a frustration of not being able to do the simple things like open doors and their friends started ignoring them because they got tired of having to yell to be heard.
I like the idea of the visualization in their shoes.  I think I'll try combining both this year.
