In addition to Elizabeth's request, I would be very interested in getting
hold of some articles or ideas that you all have used to effectively respond
to the (often heard) opinion of students that affirmative action programs 1)
discriminate against white males, which is not right either (in their view)
and 2) result in companies and agencies hiring less qualified individuals
(again in their view).

I would greatly appreciate hearing about success any of you have had in
responding to these perspectives, and/or any articles that might be
available on this topic.

Thanks,

Subject: TEACHSOC: Affirmative Action

Hello All,
Thanks again to all the great Katrina posts over the past week.

I need to do some reading on affirmative action -- very broad, I know. If
any of you assign readings dealing with Affirmative Action in your classes,
I would appreciate your citations. I would love to get a great review
piece, one that tackles not on the policy and justifications for
Affirmative Action but also provides some 'measurement' of who has been
assisted by the policy.

As always, thanks. Elizabeth
