While I don't know much about GSS data, it seems as if these questions are trying to get at gender and/or race-based differences in work experiences. A possible reference that takes an organizational perspective on gender is, "Legalizing Gender Inequality " by Robert Nelson and William Bridges.

Hi All,
I have a student working with GSS data. In picking questions of interest that caught her eye, she came across the following question listed below. I'll be honest, I need some help in giving her some guidance on where to go with this? Any insights on sociological literature/research that tackles these kinds of issues? I'd love topics as well as actual articles that have dealt with this or similiar issues.
thanks much, Elizabeth Durden
