The RU Sociology and Anthropology is searching for 4
positions—1 FT tenure-track, 2 FT temporary positions, and a chair. Please
distribute widely. Due to retirements, we seek candidates with substantive
specialty, expertise and teaching experience in one or more of the following
areas: Classical & Contemporary Sociological Theory; Deviance, Criminology
and Juvenile Delinquency; Social Inequality, including global, racial &
ethnic, and economic inequality; Sociology of the Community; and Environmental
Sociology. Successful candidates will also contribute to teaching our highly
popular “Introduction to Sociology” and/or “Social
Problems” courses. Successful applicants will: have an established and active
record of research and professional participation; be committed to student-centered
education; be committed to and ideally experienced in incorporating
experiential education activities, such as service-learning, into sociology
courses; as well as experience with integrating technological competencies and
approaches, such as WebCT, into their pedagogy. Successful candidates will also be expected to: share in the
effective advising of sociology majors; work with the department and its majors
in continuing to expand applied educational activities, such as internships;
