<<I have used CNN's, Impact of Terror that focuses on the survivors and victims' families in dealing with the aftermath of a terrorist attack. This was the suicide bombing of Sbarro's Pizza Parlor in Israel where many children were killed. It's very powerful; students react very strongly to this documentary.>>
This film Karen has suggested may also be useful in tandem to "Peace, Propaganda, and the Promised Land" in one other respect as well. In the latter film, there is a section on the media coverage of the innocent victims of both Jews and Palestinians; the only problem is that the death of the young Palestinians killed by the Israelis is nowhere to be seen in the American media. The point is to get the students to analyze critically the media representation of violence, where the suffering of one group is humanized while the suffering of another group is hidden from the public. My students are always stunned to find out how the humanization of one side is largely made at the expense of the dehumanization of the other. Putting these two films together sounds like it will bring forth that point more clearly. Khaldoun __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
