Hello,
I am looking for examples of undergraduate sociology programs that require a two-course methods sequence, one on qualitative methods and the other on quantitative (as opposed to the model with one course on research design and the other on statistics) .

As a result of program review our dept. wants to strengthen our methods requirement. I teach our current course which is a typical intro to social research focused on research design with an overview of a variety of methods and a very brief look at data analysis. We require a stats cognate that students take through math or psych.

I have come to believe that a more effective approach would be for students to learn the whole research process (design, data collection, data analysis, and report writing) start to finish in one course. In order to cover the wide variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies we need two courses.

If you have examples of this approach (including course descriptions or web address where I can find them) or any advice please send it to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you!

Heather
