Hi Jennifer,

The GSS data going back to 1972 are really easily accessible through the Survey Documentation and Analysis (SDA) archive out of UC Berkeley, at http://sda.berkeley.edu:7502/archive.htm. The 2004 data is up and running now, and all access to the data is free.

Clicking on that link in Eudora only took me to a Malaspina login page.  Everyone needs to know that if they run into that problem, simply copy and paste the URL you gave into a browser.  The SDA archive is really cool since you can do quite a few things with GSS and other popular datasets there without knowing any statistical packages at all.  I taught a group of local high school social science teachers how to use it a couple of summers ago.
