There have been a number of inquiries about sources for empirical data. I
have students analyze data for my Data Analysis and Social Statistics class,
so I have been looking at things this morning.

The ARDA (Association of Religion Data Archives) from Penn State
University funded by Lilly, is very user friendly. It focuses on religion,
but most of the surveys have many other variables. It has several years of
GSS and the 2000 election study and many, many, more studies. It is very
easy to search. Quick counts, percentages and cross tabs on gender. race,
income etc. can be done immediately on line when a questions is identified.
There are "Learning Modules" which I have not used but which look very
good. It is easy to download data. I use SPSS, so the SPSS portable files
meet my needs.

Try it. www.thearda.com
