Dear Teachsoc Members,

We would like to announce an upcoming workshop scheduled during the
2006 Annual Meetings of the Eastern Sociological Society in Boston, MA
(February 23-26, 2006). The session is entitled "Issues Women Face in the
Classroom” and is scheduled on the preliminary program for Saturday 2/25
at 2:30pm (Session 117). Our goals for this session include a discussion
of how ESS women have successfully dealt with some of the unique problems
that face female professors in the classroom and the consequences these in
class problems sometimes have outside of class (tenure, promotion, stress,
etc.). This workshop will include information on gender and evaluations,
statistics regarding the gender composition of sociology departments and
gender differences in faculty positions and salaries. We encourage
teachsoc members to attend this important session!

Other panel sessions sponsored by the ESS Committee on the Status of
 Women include:

Session 47: Building Bridges Between ESS and Sociologists for Women in
Society (Friday 2/24: 8:30-9:50)

Session 209: Career Trajectories of Women in Sociology (Saturday 2/25:
2:30-3:50)

Session 245: Rosa Parks- The Woman, the Movement, and Social Change
(co-sponsored with the Committee on the Status of Minorities) (Sunday
2/26: 10:00-11:20)

We look forward to seeing you at ESS.
Laura West Steck and Tamara Smith (co-chairs, ESS Committee on the Status
of Women)
