I wish to thank all of those who made suggestions/comments regarding Mid Term Evaluations. I was going to ask what the Univ. forms ask on the qualitative forms:

What do you think your professor does especially well? How could the course be improved? I asked those PLUS how the class as well as the *individual* student could improve the course as well as how I could. Many students said that they and the class should participate more in discussions, come to class better prepared, etc. Perhaps the act of *writing* those things will cause *behavioral* changes.

 

I went over every response with the class and where I was in “disagreement” with a suggestion indicated why and what my “rationale” was in doing or not doing something. It also gave me the opportunity to clarify things. Also, will/have *implemented* some of the suggestions made. It will be interesting to see if and how the formal student evaluation scores will be influenced by informal the mid term ones.
