Greetings: I wish to thank all of those who made
suggestions/comments regarding Mid Term Evaluations. I was going to ask what
the Univ. forms ask on the qualitative forms: What do you think your professor does
especially well? How could the course be improved? I asked those PLUS how the
class as well as the *individual*
student could improve the course as well as how I could. Many students said
that they and the class should participate more in discussions, come to class
better prepared, etc. Perhaps the act of *writing*
those things will cause *behavioral*
changes. I went over every response with the class
and where I was in “disagreement” with a suggestion indicated why
and what my “rationale” was in doing or not doing something. It also
gave me the opportunity to clarify things. Also, will/have *implemented* some of the suggestions made.
It will be interesting to see if and how the formal student evaluation scores will
be influenced by informal the mid term ones.
