TEACHSOC: Re: Honors Intro

I taught an Honors Intro last spring using the text "Social Blueprints: Conceptual Foundations for Sociology" by David K. Brown (Oxford UP 2004).  It's less "textbookish" than the usual four-color Intro texts, and includes more theory, both of which I think make it appropriate for an Honors class.

Our Honors students, like our regular student body, are drawn from the

everywhere - their lives have not exposed them to most of the things
that intrigue sociologists.

I would welcome suggestions from the group about:
1) A snappy title for the course
2) Textbooks that would lend themselves to a hands-on empirical
approach
3) Projects or assignments suitable for intro level Honors students
4) Caveats or wisdom gained from previous endeavors like this
