I wanted to to use a good basic social movements text like "Contemporary Movements and Ideologies," by Roberta Garner to give some structure and theory to my peace movements class this fall. Unfortunately, I'm told it's out of print. Does anyone know of a good text for undergrads that is similar to the Garner book, e.g., defines simply and clearly what a movement is and isn't, describes how people mobilize, and all the other general components and facets of movements? I'm not necessarily looking for a book to go in-depth on specific movements, but more of a general text that is informative and easy to read.
