The Department of Psychology and Sociology invites applicants for a half-time position as Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall 2006 semester. We are looking for a sociologist with a specialization/interest in criminology and social deviance and able to teach upper division courses in sociology/social deviance, including Sociological Theory and Sociology of the Family. Evidence of commitment to excellent teaching, student advising, mentorship, scholarship, and cultural diversity is expected. Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, undergraduate advisement, and participation in the appropriate levels of service within the College. The Department of Psychology and Sociology offers the BA in Criminology, with a choice in concentration of either Women and Social Deviance or Forensic Psychology, and a minor in Sociology. Faculty also teach some courses in our weekend Bachelor’s program in Criminology aimed at working professionals. We are looking for high quality teacher-scholars with an interest in working in a small, supportive academic setting, who enjoy working with undergraduates.
Applicants should have a completed Ph.D. by the beginning of appointment.
