Sociology Instructor/ Assistant Professor, Florissant Valley, Social & Behavioral Sciences, $44,326 minimum for Instructor, $49,906 minimum for Assistant Professor Closing Date: June 9 Requires a Masters degree in Sociology, (or strongly related field); prefer additional coursework and/or a degree in Ethnic Studies. Depending on training and experience, teaching responsibilities may include: Human Relations (SOC:100); Introduction to Sociology (SOC:101); Introduction to Sociology/Black Emphasis (SOC:101); Race and Ethnicity (SOC:212); and/or Cultural Variations (ANT:103). The successful candidate must have college teaching experience, preferably at a community college. The candidate should also have evidence of commitment to using assessment to improve teaching and learning, and experience with varied teaching techniques, including collaborative learning. Familiarity and experience with experiential teaching pedagogies and with innovative ways to promote student engagement will be given substantial consideration. Also, the successful candidate must perform other duties required for full-time faculty, such as, program development, committee work, advising students, participation in the intellectual life of the department and college.
