An article in TS years ago used six distinct circles to show how race is socially constructed. Students have to place the circles in categories (racial grouping) and usually there is very little agreement on how that is accomplished, showing that assumptions are made on visual appearance about people's racial characteristics and thus socially constructed. Sorry, I don't have the citation for this, just the circles.
