Hi all,

I have a situation where I'm using OpenVPN Connect on a non rooted android tablet to connect to my hotspotvpn account. The system works. However, every 40 seconds, if the tunnel is inactive, it disconnects and reconnects. During this time, I cannot access the internet, and it puts up annoying status messages on the screen. This timeout is apparently built into the client software. I read in a forum post that it does not honor the keep alive ping and ping-restart parameters pushed by the openvpn server.

So, I need a way to send or receive at least one packet through the tunnel every 30 seconds. All wifi goes through the tunnel so any data usage should work.

I have little control over the tcp stack or openvpn software on a non rooted device, so the best work around is probably some off the shelf software that will exercise the network periodically.

Any suggestions?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Ron
