Hi all,

I wanted to relate an experience with Comcast that I had that could save you money.

I have their xfinity service - tv, phone, internet. For me, this includes 2 cable boxes, hd dvr capabilities, 3 phone lines, and their Blast speed boost on the internet. My bills have been running over $ 250 / month, which I consider to be a very high number. I was trying to figure out some things to drop.

Comcast's business model is apparently to overcharge most people most of the time. However, if you call and talk about dropping stuff, they sometimes will offer you special promotional pricing to keep you happy.

If you're an Atlanta customer, call 404-COMCAST . If you're outside of Atlanta, you can call 1-800-XFINITY. On the Atlanta system, you press option 5 then 1 to let the system know you want to remove some services. Listen to the prompts carefully and make sure you're not telling the system you want to cancel everything. This sends you to the retention department, apparently. I got a helpful rep (although with a hard to understand accent). Tell them you need to cut cost and ask what promotions they have available.

I was able to get a deal, assuming it works, that lets me keep all my same services, except for dropping STARZ, which I don't use, and it will save me about $ 90 / month for a year. Then, the cost goes back up again. But, at least I'll be better off for a while.

Thought I'd pass it along.

Sincerely

Ron

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone. I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
mailing lists and such. I don't always see new email messages very quickly.)
