Hi guys,

(Also posting to DC404.)

We all love to get new tech gear. But, sometimes, we have to dispose of it and sometimes it's hard to find a place to recycle it properly. I found this link which might help. You can search by zipcode. I figured this was something hackers should know.

Apparently most batteries plus stores will accept phones, electronics, laptops, FL bulbs and some other stuff. I have some 4' FL tubes I have to get rid of. I called the store and they said they charge about $ 1.29 per tube. I think they also charge for CFL too, but Home Depot and (I think) Lowes will take those for free. Best Buy also has a set of recycling bins for small items and (I think) they also take CFL's.

I also found this facility on a bulletin from Forsyth Co. It lists an Atlanta Company that can accept a large variety of household waste.

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone. I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
mailing lists and such. I don't always see new email messages very quickly.)
