Subject: Project EASIER update

Update to AEA Project EASIER representatives.

Good news during a time of budget cuts and national disasters. Project EASIER continues to expand. Over 200 school districts used Project EASIER to submit BEDS fall data to the Department of Education. The DE staff then compiled the districts report and school officials verified the correctness of the report using the web. This fall another 30 districts signed up for Project EASIER including two non-public schools.  It is gratifying to see educators embrace a new and improved way of doing reports.  The indirect effect of improving student data is also evident. Progress is also being made in submitting student transcripts from high schools to area community colleges and the Regent Universities.  The state has set a goal to have all school districts using project EASIER by July 2003.  We are experiencing good cooperation with vendors. If you have questions please contact me using email or call me at (515) 987-8139.

I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you take some time to relax and appreciate your friends, families and loved ones.
