Yeah. You’ll get the upgrade warnings, but it should still work.

However, giving it a try. I loaded my joomla to godaddy the old fashion way
and achieved a Forbidden to enter error upon trying to even get to my site.
So still plugging away.

According to the Documentation file, JoomlaPack 2.4.1 should work with PHP
v4.3.9, or higher. I would say this is your best bet!

I’ve been using it, since v1.0.4 Beta, and it has always backed up the DB with
it.

Are you on Joomla v1.0.x or Joomla v1.5.x??

According to the press on the new version you can (apparently) run the backup
and it loads your db with it. I am not sure if the old one does it.
However, it does not sound too hard to just upload the joomla file I copied to
my local machine, then export the db and work with the config.php files. Not
having done it before I shall see I suppose.
Have you moved a joomla site before from a local host to a shared server?

I might have an older copy of Akeeba (JoomlaPack) on my laptop. The older
version could easily run on PHP4.

PHP5 on 7.4 can be done, but it is HIGHLY NOT recommended!

For those of you who used Akeeba to move your joomla site to another server, (I
might try this route) did you have to change your config.php files? I assume I
would first have to create a database on Godaddy before I could move my site.
Any suggestions before the move would be appreciated.

I've used the restore function from the old Akeeba and it worked just fine.

Might look at Akeeba Backup:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/backup/1606

It installed fine on my Joomla (1.5 running on a Ubuntu server) and it made a
backup fine. I have not taken it through the restore process, but the reviews
said it works fine as well. The neat think is that this will not ONLY get all
your files but it ALSO grabs the database and packs it all in one place. It
sounds like the restor puts it all back the way it was.

If you go this route let me know. Like I said I AM backing stuff up - I want
to know if the restore works well!

Well, it is now time to move my Joomla and its db to the ROE’s GoDaddy account.
(And let’s not get into what a crappy hosting site GoDaddy can be to navigate
around…I know it is)
For anyone who has done this move before ( not necc to godaddy) where did you
find the best information, and do you have any tips.
And do you know if phpMyAdmin comes with SME?
Mucho Thanks for any help.
