Yeah, I found that article, too.  And that's pretty much the way we have it set 
up, except I'm monitoring outbound only.  The problem is that things that 
should be getting blocked are not.  I think it has something to do with the 
ingress vlan that was set up on the previous switch, but I'm not positive 
that's the case.

Darin, here is how it is done on a 3Com 4500. Hope that's close
enough. When you are searching, use the word SPAN and I think you'll
find something more exact.
