Your birdie could be right, they're on a major 3G upgrade drive in Illinois. They turned on a huge band of 3G service a couple of months back and are still adding. What made me mad was a text message I received from AT&T last October - "Great news! AT&T launched 3G in Clinton, opening a new era of mobile services and audio and video content to you!" So in December, I bought an iPhone 3GS. No 3G in Clinton. Was sometime in May, I think, before they turned it on. -Eric On Wed, Aug 4, 2010 at 2:56 PM, Michael Bendorf <<bendo...@a-ccentral.us>bendo...@a-ccentral.us> wrote: As far as I know, some places I frequent (such as the family in Macoupin County) only have coverage by AT&T... I'm exited by two things: a major OS upgrade and a touch screen. I have already started thinking about my next upgrade - and those are two big things I must have. I'd like to stick with BB - and maybe by the time I do upgrade (not for 15 months) they will have a decent touchscreen offering. And by the way, I really cannot complain too much about call quality or coverage with AT&T. I can complain that neither the town that I live in nor the one I work in are 3G yet, but I very seldom drop a call - must be due to the low population density. (a birdie told me that Jacksonville will be 3G by the end of the year - I hope it was an owl and not a dodo that told me that.) --Michael T.
