I feel the same way about it. Our society's resistance to change boggles my mind. I can't stand email. It wasn't until Gmail before I liked it a little bit. I don't use it to communicate because I find it awkward and slow, especially when communicating with a group (like this, forum++). IM/Text is much better for one to one communication IMO. Personally, my email has become a simple repository for notifications. Calendar alerts, automated task reports, error messages...etc are pretty much the only thing in my inbox at home. At work is a different story. Everyone is still clinging on to email to do everything including document distribution :(.
I am sad to see Google Wave go but I can already see a lot of the tech showing up in other apps which is the important part. I think we will slowly see gmail turn in to a hybrid of email and wave in the future. We shall see. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of McKay, Curtis Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2010 8:12 AM To: 'Tech-Geeks Mailing List' Subject: Re: [tech-geeks] RIP Google Wave I thought it was an amazing communications tool, or at least could have been. It never got adopted because everybody is engrained with email. If they could have made it integrate with email to have somewhat of a transition I think it would have taken better. As discussed with this list in the past and the idea of going to a forum based setup. People like the email coming to them, they don't want to have to go somewhere else to check. You're already checking email, why log into wave?
