Are you using the Desktop (GUI) version of Ubuntu, or the Server (CLI) version?

If you’re using the Desktop edition, you can open a command prompt and type:
sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf

If you’re using the Server edition, you’ll need to use a command line editor
like nano. In that case: sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf

After you edit and save the file, you might need to restart networking for FOG
to resolve the hostnames. To do that, either restart the server, or, from a
command prompt, type: sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Hope that helps,

Aaron

Thanks for the advice! I'm obviously a linux newbie... I found the file, but
need help opening it. Looks like "root" owns it and I can't edit it (read only
for administrator). The root login is locked correct? So how do I edit the
file?

Thanks,
Scott

That’s not really an issue, you should still be able to use FOG without issues.
If you want to fix this problem though, try editing /etc/resolv.conf (assuming
you’re using Ubuntu). At the end of the resolv.conf file (after the nameserver
entries), add the following (substituting your actual domain name—fully
qualified):

search yourdomain.name

Save the file, then your FOG server should be able to resolve the hostnames.

Hope that helps,

Every host I add shows the same red icon. "Unable to resolve hostname"

I think I have AD setup properly now...does the FOG server need rebooted?

Should I be worried... and what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Scott
