Here are 2 solutions for you to consider.:
1. Are you looking for something that would be a PART od a Joomla story like:
http://www.altamont.k12.il.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=158:old-time-radio-drama&catid=54:achs-classroom&Itemid=88
You can install the AllVideos Reloaded plugin / component and then you get a button on the Joomla Artical Editor to link in Videos / Audio form other sites like YouTube etc. or you can upload your own Media (MP3 / FLV / 3GP / Avi etc. etc.) and it takes care of the other "stuff" making it a Podcast and putting in the player in the story etc. etc. The only downfall is you have to FTP up the media (Mp3 etc.) to a specific spot - but other than that the rest is cake.

2. If you want something OUTSIDE of Joomla you might look at Andromedia. (http://www.turnstyle.com/andromeda/home.asp) SUPER simple. Drop the PHP or ASP script into any folder on your webserver, then upload MP3 files etc. to the same folder and you are done. The script finds the files makes a playlist and makes a menu etc. etc. If you folders below the one with the script you get collections etc. etc. A great tool if you want to keep a collection of podcasts for people to go back to and gives you an easy way to organize them. There was a free uncrippled adromedia script years ago; it looks like you may need to shell out $20 or $75 for the script if you want the uncripped version. I have used it and it works well if it agrees with your webserver.

Good Luck
