Here is a good laugh:
This summer I set up a wireless router for PRN use. Yesterday, we had
the 403b guys come and wanted wireless. So, I pulled out my router
and the network that I set up couldn't be found. Upon inspection I
discovered that the router had been reset. I was very puzzled, to say
the least.
Today I mention to an administrator that my router was mysteriously
reset. She tells me that my user from Hell was trying to use said
router last week. I went to him and asked him about it. He told me
that it wouldn't work after he hit the "reset" button. He argued with
me for a long time because the "reset" button "captures" the wireless
signal instead of erases all of the settings that make the router
secure. Finally, I told him that I would prove it to him. I plugged
it in and had him discover the network and then I made him hit the
reset button. There was no apology about time lost when my network
disappeared and "Linksys" appeared. Instead, he told me about how he
had problems on his home wireless and some guy from overseas (whom he
could hardly understand) told them to reset it and then their wireless
suddenly worked. He also thought that rebooting them computer helped
to "capture" the signal.
This is from my user who needs his machine formatted 1-2 times per
year. I wonder why.....
