>From Illinois' State Superintendent Christopher Koch's
weekly newstter (both August 9th and 16th I believe.):

The Illinois State Board of Education and Attorney
General Lisa Madigan will host a webinar Aug. 24 to
provide information and resources for educators on
Internet safety. In response to the growing phenomena of
online aggression and requests from educators for age-
appropriate Internet safety information to teach their
students, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office has
developed four grade-appropriate training modules to
assist educators in meeting the Internet safety training
requirement for students under the Illinois School Code
(105 ILCS 5/27-13.3(c)).

The webinar, slated for 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, will
include an overview of youth Internet and cell phone
usage; information on online exploitation, cyber bullying,
sexting and piracy; and resources for educators to use
with students in grades 3-12. Sarah Migas from the AG’s
Office will be the presenter.

Space for the webinar is limited. Reserve a seat at
https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/116520753.
After registering you will receive confirmation e-mail
containing information about joining the webinar. System
requirements for PC-based attendees are Windows 7,
Vista, XP 2003 Server or 2000. For Macintosh-based
attendees, Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) or newer is
required.

"I'm trying to teach myself to ask the same questions that you do during
your lectures so that I do not need you any more."

A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for
others.

"The computer revolution hasn't started yet. Don't be misled by the enormous
flow of money into bad defacto standards for unsophisticated buyers using
poor adaptations of incomplete ideas."
