Still tinkering with Google Maps for our website, not being happy with kludgy things like GMapFP and other solutions.
I think the cleanest thing for me at the moment was to learn a little about Google Map parameters (http://mapki.com/wiki/Google_Map_Parameters) and then put my modifications in a wrapper listed on the main menu. [1] Basically, I did a search for our address and then used the string that appeared as the URL. [2] Next I added "&v=2.2" to force version 2.2 of KML, [3] and I added "&output=embed" to get rid of the left "fly out panel" because it took up too much space in the center column of my web page. [4] Finally, I searched for our "business name" in quotes to find out the "cid=" parameter, the unique Google "Company ID" for our place. I added that "&cid=" string to the other URL string. And I through all that into my "wrapper soup." Two things yet remain. In the Wrapper edit page, when I select "On Click, Open . . . In New Window with Browser Navigation," Joomla still doesn't open a new window for that wrapper. Secondly, I'd like to get rid of the "reviews" under the Google cid link to our name. While the reviews are currently respectable, some ill-dispositioned folk might try to do something less generous.
