There's numerous ways to accomplish this, but I'd point you towards windows
media services that we use to stream our sports games. You just need to
install the Windows Media Services on a Windows server and then have the
encoder installed on a computer in the room with some type of camera hooked up.
There might be simpler solutions, but this is what I'm the most familiar with
so it popped in my head first.
Students could connect to the Microsoft stream coming from the server at home.
You can embed a windows media player in the web page so the live feed can be
just a piece of a webpage with other information and photos around it. If you
go the embed route, you end up alienating non Windows users, but if you provide
an mms link to open a new window as an alternative you cover all the bases.

I currently have a science teacher who would like to stream live video of a
fish tank the class with have an experiment in. He wants students who are
interested to be able to monitor the experiment at home. We currently host and
manage our website so publishing content should be a little easier with the web
server and camera on the same network segment. I didn't know if anyone had
ever tried or has something like this already set up. Just curious, I thought
it was a neat idea that would challenge the web page class.

This is an interesting thread; I have placed several Smart orders with
Bradfield's over the past 3 years and have never had a problem of any kind.

Yep, messed up 3 times on our first and last order.

Anyone else ever have an issue with Smart Technologies messing up shipping
something out to you?

We ordered a Smart Table, at the beginning of July with some ARRA money, and
they messed it up or lost it, and now they are telling me sometime the first of
Sept.

This is the second time Smart has messed up an order of ours, and it's the
second vendor I've used.

Thanks
CK
