So we have the Lexia program. Last year I had to manually go around and
upgrade to their latest version since they didn't provide an .msi
install that I could push out using group policy. This year they
finally added a .msi install for their new version 7. At first I was
happy at the thought of not having to go to each PC and upgrade. I set
it up in group policy to run the .msi package and it was working
flawlessly until they go to run the program. When they did, they got an
error about Buddy API exceeding the number of licensed functions. I
called their "support" and was told that the msi could not be installed
until the previous version was uninstalled or maybe if you delete the
Lexia folder first. After explaining that it kind of defeats the
purpose of having a msi install if you have to go to every PC and
uninstall, she said to try to make it delete the folder before it runs
the install. I asked how, and all she could say was, "I think there is
a way to do that, but I don't know how". Nice support. Anyways, does
anyone know how I can automate it so before it pushes out the msi
install it deletes the Lexia folder on the C: drive of the PC? I could
set up a batch file or something to do it when they log in, but that
would keep deleting it even after the upgrade. I don't see any way in
the group policy settings to have it run a script or batch file before
proceeding either. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
