Some things to watch out for is the user profile and security requirements for local apps. A couple years ago I was involved in a large financial institution's migration from Novell eDirectory to a MS Active Directory swing. Some of the major hurdles we ran into were user profiles, application permissions, Novell having the ability to have multiple password policies (Microsoft domain level must be 2008 or higher for the same functionality), and groupwise to exchange migration. Depending on your budget you might look into NDS migrator from Quest software. It definitely costs some money, at least regular pricing. There is a trial for it to determine if it is something you really want/need. It does take a lot of the leg work out of transferring user profiles and security issues. I'm not sure how far into the migration you are but I do suggest taking your time at the beginning and having a pilot group for the migration. I've done migrations from Novell to MS AD a few time s and there always seem to be some painful times.

We are in the process of migrating over to Microsoft and we are working on doing this in phases simultaneously and hopefully seamlessly. Is it possible to take computers that are logging into the Novell network and join them to the Windows domain without disturbing things?
