If you're using office 2007, MS has a "save as PDF" freebie for Office 2007
and 2010. Works in Word, Excel , PowerPoint, and Publisher. Never tried it
in PowerPoint, but it works in the other three.

PDFCreator is nice. I've been using it for years both at home and in the
workplace. Free and Open Source.
