I have our Mac desktops plugged into the directory tree and pulling home
directories from the Netware servers. Works well but we had to get creative
with iMovie because it really really doesn't work well with networked home
directories. Not that I wantthat much on the server anyway! But with a little
sum linking was able to work it out.

Our laptop users all are local with ldap authentication but they rsync to the
network drives. I gets checked in on every now and the. But for the most part
it works. I really don't like Apples solution for mobile accounts (requires OSX
server). But using built in tools I was able to craft some sync options for our
laptop users.

All in all don't use iMovie in the network. It has never been a good idea but
specifically where home directories were concerned.
