only two settings in google dashboard -> email

I put my content filter's public IP address in as the outbound gateway and
also as an email whitelist entry.

I have my MX record point to my content filter's public IP address as well.

As Dana said, there is config on the filter as well - but this way
everything sent to my google apps domain is sent to my local filter first
and archived/filtered/etc. then passed on to google (or well, postini) and
everything that my google apps users send out goes through my local filter
to be archived etc..

Just call Derbytech and they can walk you through it.
