Based on very limited experience XP and 2k seem to work the same.
Vista and W7 has implemented "Libraries" which look like a collection
of shortcuts to diverse paths, kind of like syslinks in GNU/Linux.
Also there are Apps and App Data folders to consider in V\W7.  I build
msi for XP and msi for V\W7.
