Last Wednesday I called a dealer in beautiful downtown Burbank (for
you old Laugh-in fans), IL. to ask some questions about a Corvette Z06
they had for sale on ebay. After talking to them I decided to go
ahead with the deal. The sales guy says "we can start it here". I
asked if he was sure I shouldn't have hit "buy it now". "No, we'll
take care of that for you". Thursday, they had approval from my bank.
Friday I got their paperwork for signature and closed the financing
on Monday. Tuesday morning I mailed the check to them. I was
supposed to be picking it up today. Supposed to be are the key words.
They called me Wednesday after they already had my money and told me
that they had sold the car out from under me, but they were trying to
fix the problem. Yesterday they called me and told me that they
couldn't fix it and I was screwed. They forgot to close the aution
and someone hit buy it now. They made a feeble effort to offer me a
different car. They blamed it on ebay, but it's just a matter of not
having the HUEVOS to call the other bidder and tell him he can't have
the car and explain the situation. They don't want to hurt their
positive feedback rating on ebay.
They were supposed to have my checks back to me by noon today. So
far, it hasn't happened.
I won't mention company names on the list because that's not a good
thing, but I will gladly tell anyone who wants to know off list and
would be willing to add comments to their facebook page to do a little
blackballing. Needless to say, I'm just a little pi55ed - no, that's
an understatement. By the way, Ebay was absolutely no help in the
matter.
