I haven't read this whole thread, so I apologize if this has been discussed
before, but... do you by chance have a mail filtering appliance? I've run into
something like this before, and the problem was that I've only authorized
certain internal IPs to our spam filter appliance that allow relaying mail
through the same. This was put in a place a few years ago when we were
notified by ICN that a small amount of spam seemed to be coming through our IPs
into their system. So I was forced to lock down our internal network to just a
few specifically-allowed SMTP relays.

In our case, I tried OWA. Same problem.

I'd still be curious to see if it would work if the user tried OWA

I do apologize. In the hurry of responding I was not paying much
attention. We are set up for Exchange accounts.

If it's exchange and it's local Outlook, user should probably be setup
as an exchange account. Any reason you're using POP3 & SMTP?

Yes pop3. This is not for every address or every person either. Just
certain people that we send emails to.

I am getting this error message when we send emails to certain people.
mail.L156.org #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for "sender". We
are using Exchange 2003. Has anyone seen a fix for this? I have looked
all over online and am not finding the solution. Thanks.
