I have a usb drive that comes up with the dreaded " You need to format the disk... before you can use it." message.. I have used DiskDigger to recover some of the files.. Are there any other free utilities that I could try? Also what are the odds that if I do a format and then try to use a data recovery software that I will get any of the info.. I am betting not too good, but just thought I would throw that out as well...
