Really? I would have thought VNC and RDP have nothing to do with each other. Regardless, most VNC servers I've seen have preferences that allow you to customize the behavior of multiple simultaneous connections. For example, one option should be something like "Do nothing" when more than one client connects at a time. Which flavor of VNC are you using? The only way as of right now is have the keyboard / mouse hooked to computer and disconnect from RDP on the thin client then start backup when I am done on VNC as when I VNC in, it kicks the RDP sessions out and vice versa.
