Since the period is inside the "'s it is just a part of the string and the interpreter will not "see" it. Will not make a difference.

    can someone tell me why these 2 statemtents are not interchangeable?
$right_now=date("Y-m-d")."T00:00:00-05.00";
    $right_now="2010-10-08T00:00:00-05:00";
    The second one works, but the first one doesn't. They both seem to
    echo the same string.
