So, I have been using google voice at work for a while. I give out my GV
number and when people call it both my office desk phone and my district
provided cell ring. I can pick up either one...
I just stumbled across the following:

Receiving Calls: Switching phones during an incoming call

To switch phones in the middle of an incoming call, just press * while
you're talking, and your other phones will ring. Then, for example, you can
pick up the call from your mobile phone (if you're about to head out), or
from your desk. There are no passcodes or PINs to enter and, best of all,
your caller won't even hear the switch.

Keep in mind that it's not possible to switch phones during calls you make
through your Google number. If this is a feature you'd like to see added to
Google Voice, please send us your
feedback<http://www.google.com/support/voice/bin/request.py?contact_type=suggest>
.
I will be testing this in the morning, but it seems to add a feature that
some high-end VOIP systems offer.
If this does what it sounds like...wow.

I have been enjoying the text/email transcription service as well, but this
might be a new favorite for while in the office (or at least a super neat
one to keep in mind.)

How have others been using GV?
