Migrated a small Catholic elementary school this weekend. So far have been
happy with the whole process - tech support literally picks up after a couple
rings, no automated attendant. With that said, I still have a couple
outstanding issues I am working through but support's response is pretty quick.

You can connect Outlook 2007 and higher as an Exchange server. Outlook 2003
still need to do IMAP/SMTP. There is no way to import client contacts via the
OWA. You must connect to Outlook and import that way. Only real issue for
those with many contacts.

OWA is clean and easy to use.

There is an email migration utility that you can use in the Live.edu control
panel that you upload a CSV file and it will connect to your old mail server
and migrate the inbox over. Somewhat successful, some users with sub-folders
came over without issue, some users I get errored out that it cannot connect to
their old mail (eventhough I can log in to it), and really for about 60 users,
I think it moved everything over in less than 12 hours. This was with doing a
couple batches.

You can customize colors and layout for OWA. I didn't worry about that, they
just wanted the mail server moved.

Hope that helps.
