lol, thanks mike. We do have schools already such as mike running a variety of things in the cloud to date.
Pearson has actually been very receptive in working with us to solve some very real problems for districts. You'd be surprised at the number of organizations and vendors in the state that don't get it, or that we fight because of politics. (well maybe not, most everyone on this list had probably dealt with that at some point). As always we continue to ramp up services, albeit sometimes more slowly than we would like. But on the upside we are self sustaining, with slow but steady growth. An organization of your peers, working together to help school districts. At IETC there will be some success stories, and we are on track to unveil a couple new services that are currently being tested right now for scale across the state. If you are in real need right now (non DR stuff), we can help. -Jason -----Original Message----- From: tech-geeks-boun...@tech-geeks.org [mailto:tech-geeks-boun...@tech-geeks.org] On Behalf Of Mike Swanson Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2010 8:48 AM To: Tech-Geeks Mailing List Subject: Re: [tech-geeks] PowerSchool customers with Mac Servers dilemma Illinois Cloud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ---------- "He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else." --- Benjamin Franklin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathi Thomason" <cthoma...@oakgrove.peoria.k12.il.us> To: "Tech-Geeks Mailing List" <tech-geeks@tech-geeks.org> Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2010 8:46:14 AM (GMT-0600) America/Chicago Subject: [tech-geeks] PowerSchool customers with Mac Servers dilemma Open for discussion - Pearson who owns PowerSchool, recently alerted customers to Mac servers being "incompatible with current Oracle database". They also stated that Oracle has not provided a date by which the current version of the Oracle Mac Database will be certified on Mac OSX 10.6. Pearson also states it will discontinue support for the Mac server effective Dec. 31, 2010. Their suggestions: 1. replace Mac server with Windows based server 2. run a virtual "Windows environment" on your Mac server. 3. pay them to host your data. Anyone else with this issue and if so, do you have a solution?
