I've always felt the p->v mapping should be managed by higher level code and that pmap(9) should be allowed to forget any mappings that aren't wired. Implementing all that in VM code would be more maintainable than having each pmap have to manage all that. It makes porting a pmap layer onto a new MMU a pain. Eduardo
