If I understand it right (your email was hard to parse), you made wd3d part of a raid-1, partitionned and newfs'd a partition of this raid-1, and then expect to be able to mount wd3d as plain ffs ? that won't work; wd3d has the raidframe metadata, not something that can be used directly.
