I have another Sun Ultra 5 that has same configuration, at least it has same "CRD-8322B, 1998/09/24, 1.05". I have tried more reliable CD-R with another one, and gotten exactly same results. And I have tried to mount/umount CD-ROM media, and gotten same error. I believe "CRD-8322B, 1998/09/24, 1.05" has problem.
